This item is an antique hickory shaft golf club, specifically a blade-style putter or iron dating back to the late 19th or early 20th century.
Before the widespread adoption of steel shafts in the late 1920s, golf clubs were constructed with solid wood shafts typically made from robust, flexible American hickory wood. These vintage clubs feature a hand-wrapped leather or sheepskin grip at the top and a forged iron or smooth-faced steel head pinned securely to the wooden hosel. Today, these clubs are highly collectible as historical sports memorabilia and decorative display pieces.
